A False Sense of Savings
It's easy to ignore your HVAC system when it's running fine. Many homeowners skip their annual maintenance thinking they are saving money. Unfortunately, an air conditioner is just like a car—if you never change the oil, the engine will eventually seize. In the HVAC world, that "engine" is a $2,000+ compressor.
The Domino Effect of Dirt
A thin layer of dust on your outdoor condenser coil acts like an insulating blanket, trapping heat inside. This forces the compressor to run hotter and longer to achieve the same cooling effect, driving up your energy bills. Eventually, the compressor overheats and burns out—a repair that costs thousands, easily prevented by a simple chemical coil wash during a tune-up.
Protecting Your Warranty
Most manufacturers require proof of professional annual maintenance to keep their 10-year parts warranties valid. If your system breaks and you have no service records, the manufacturer can deny your warranty claim, leaving you on the hook for the full cost of the parts.
