What is a Ductless Mini-Split?
As the name implies, these systems require no ductwork. They consist of an outdoor compressor unit connected directly to one or more indoor air-handling units mounted high on the wall or ceiling. They pump refrigerant directly to the room being conditioned.
Unmatched Efficiency
Traditional ductwork can lose up to 30% of its conditioned air to leaks in uninsulated attics or crawlspaces. Ductless systems deliver 100% of the heating or cooling directly into the living space. Furthermore, they utilize inverter-driven compressors that ramp up and down smoothly, rather than turning on and off at full blast, resulting in SEER ratings well into the 20s and 30s.
Perfect for Zoning
Ductless systems allow you to create distinct temperature zones. You can have the living room at 72 degrees while keeping an unused guest bedroom turned off completely, saving massive amounts of energy compared to central air.
Ideal Use Cases
While they can be used to heat and cool an entire home, mini-splits are particularly incredible for garage conversions, home additions, sunrooms, or older historical homes where running new ductwork is physically impossible.
