The Hidden Dangers in Your Home

Your heating and cooling system is the largest, most powerful appliance in your home. It operates using 240 volts of electricity, natural gas, and complex mechanical moving parts. While modern HVAC systems are incredibly safe, time, wear, and vibration can compromise critical safety mechanisms, creating severe fire and health hazards.

Electrical Hazards

Over time, the constant vibration of an operating HVAC system can loosen electrical connections. Loose connections create electrical resistance, generating extreme heat that can easily melt wire insulation and start an electrical fire. During a safety inspection, a technician tightens all high-voltage connections, tests capacitors for bulging or leaking, and measures the amperage draw of all motors to ensure they aren't dangerously overheating.

Gas Leaks and Combustion Issues

For gas furnaces, safety inspections are absolutely non-negotiable. A technician must use specialized 'sniffer' tools to check the gas valve, manifold, and piping for microscopic leaks. Furthermore, they must inspect the flue pipe for proper drafting to ensure that toxic combustion gases are being safely vented out of the home, rather than spilling backward into the living space.
