Moving Beyond Single-Stage Heating
For decades, commercial heating meant massive burners that turned on at 100% capacity until the thermostat was satisfied, then shut off completely. This rapid cycling is incredibly inefficient and puts immense thermal stress on heat exchangers. The future of commercial heating lies in modulation.
Modulating Burners and VFDs
Modern commercial heaters utilize fully modulating burners that can adjust their output from 10% to 100% capacity based on the exact real-time demand of the building. When paired with Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) blowers, the system can provide a constant, gentle flow of warm air, drastically reducing fuel consumption and eliminating the cold/hot swings associated with older equipment.
Zoned Control and BAS Integration
Integrating your commercial heating system with a Building Automation System (BAS) allows facility managers to monitor and control heating zones down to the individual room level. Unoccupied zones can be automatically set back, and predictive algorithms can pre-heat the building using off-peak energy rates, offering unprecedented control over operational overhead.
