Thermostat Repair & Calibration

For most homes, we recommend the Ecobee Premium or Google Nest Learning Thermostat. Both learn your schedule, include remote room sensors for balanced temperatures, and integrate with smart home systems. For homes with Carrier or Lennox equipment, their proprietary thermostats (Infinity/iComfort) offer the deepest system integration and diagnostics.

Most smart thermostats require a C-wire (common wire) for consistent 24V power. Many older homes only have 4 wires at the thermostat location. We install C-wires properly by running a new thermostat cable — we never use the power-stealing adapters that cause reliability problems and can damage your HVAC equipment.

Absolutely. A miscalibrated thermostat, a thermostat installed in a poor location (direct sunlight, near a vent, in a drafty hallway), or a thermostat with a failed temperature sensor will cause your system to cycle on and off rapidly. This wastes energy and dramatically accelerates wear on your compressor and blower motor.

ENERGY STAR estimates that a properly programmed smart thermostat saves an average of $50-$150 per year on heating and cooling costs. In the Antelope Valley where AC runs 6+ months per year, savings are typically on the higher end. The thermostat usually pays for itself within 1-2 cooling seasons.
